Bob Hercules is an award-winning producer/director and co-owner of Media Process Group. Over his 40-year career Hercules has filmed around the world and his work has been seen on Netflix, Apple, PBS, BBC, the Discovery Channel, IFC and through television syndication nationwide.

He has directed corporate programs and commercials for the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, WNET-TV, Sesame Workshop, Ravinia Festival, University of Chicago’s Booth School, the Obama Presidential Campaign, Opportunity International, Easter Seals, and the University of Iowa Hospitals.  

Hercules’ feature documentary, “Maya Angelou: And Still I Rise,” (co-directed by Rita Coburn) premiered at the 2016 Sundance Film Festival, was broadcast on PBS’ American Masters series and on the BBC series “Storyville” in 2017 and went on to win a Peabody Award for Excellence in Documentary. 

His most recent film, “Mikva! Democracy is a Verb,” tells the story of former Congressman, Judge and liberal icon, Abner Mikva.  The film played on PBS in late 2020 and is now streaming via WTTW, Chicago.

His 2011 film,  “A Good Man” (co-produced with Kartemquin Films), chronicles acclaimed choreographer Bill T. Jones over two years as he creates a work about the legacy of Abraham Lincoln.  The film premiered at the Full Frame Documentary Film Festival and aired on PBS’ American Masters program November, 2011.  

His 2012 film, “Joffrey: Mavericks of American Dance” (narrated by Mandy Patinkin), was also broadcast on American Masters and was shown at the Dance on Camera film festival at New York’s Lincoln Center.
